Carlo Jans započeo je satove flaute u dobi od sedam godina. Nakon školovanja u Luksemburgu i Nancyju (u klasi Jacquesa Mulea), diplomirao je na Kraljevskom konzervatoriju u Liègeu, gdje je stekao Diplôme Supérieur de flûte. Kao student Raymonda Guiota osvojio je nagradu „1er Prix Supérieur de la Ville de Paris“. Poslijediplomski studij završio je na Visokoj glazbenoj školi u Kölnu u klasi Andràsa Adorjàna, a dodatno se usavršavao kod Aurèlea Nicoletta.
Otvoren novim umjetničkim perspektivama, studirao je dirigiranje kod Jana Stulena i Jean-Philippea Rieua u Maastrichtu, gdje je diplomirao s odličnim uspjehom, a potom stekao poslijediplomsku diplomu na “Zuid Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek“. Daljnje usavršavanje nastavio je kod Jorme Panule u Sankt Peterburgu. Doktorirao je umjetnost na Muzičkoj akademiji u Łódźu (Poljska).
Od 1984. predaje flautu i komornu glazbu na Konzervatoriju u Luksemburgu, gdje je 1999. postao profesor flaute i dirigiranja te preuzeo vodstvo orkestara. Redoviti je gost prestižnih flautističkih konvencija diljem Europe i SAD-a.
Od 2002. do 2009. predavao je na Visokoj glazbenoj školi u Saarbrückenu, a 1988. osnovao je Forum International pour Flûte et Piano Diekirch/Luxembourg, kroz koji je do danas prošlo preko 1100 studenata iz 58 zemalja.
Uz pedagoški rad, Jans ostvaruje intenzivnu solističku i dirigentsku karijeru. Nastupao je s orkestrima poput RTL Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre d’Auvergne, Praškog radijskog simfonijskog orkestra, Nacionalnog poljskog radijskog orkestra, Switzerland Chamber Orchestra te Latvijskog filharmonijskog komornog orkestra, gdje je od 1997. stalni gost dirigent.
Suradivao je s brojnim uglednim umjetnicima, a mnogi su skladatelji pisali djela posebno za njega. Njegova diskografija broji više od 50 CD-a, nagrađenih zapaženim međunarodnim priznanjima, uključujući „Grand Prix du Disque“.

Carlo Jans began flute lessons at the age of seven. After studies in Luxembourg and Nancy (with Jacques Mule), he graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Liège with the Diplôme Supérieur de flûte. As a student of Raymond Guiot, he received the 1er Prix Supérieur de la Ville de Paris. He completed postgraduate studies at the Cologne Academy of Music in the class of András Adorján, and continued advanced studies with Aurèle Nicolet.
Open to new artistic perspectives, he studied conducting with Jan Stulen and Jean-Philippe Rieu in Maastricht, graduating with distinction, and later earned a postgraduate diploma from the Zuid Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek. He continued further conducting studies with Jorma Panula in Saint Petersburg and completed a Doctorate in Arts at the Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland.
Since 1984, Jans has taught flute and chamber music at the Conservatory of Luxembourg, where he became Professor of Flute and Conducting in 1999 and took over the leadership of the conservatory’s orchestras. He is a frequent guest at major flute conventions throughout Europe and the United States.
From 2002 to 2009, he taught at the Hochschule für Musik Saar in Saarbrücken. In 1988 he founded the Forum International pour Flûte et Piano Diekirch/Luxembourg, a summer course that has welcomed more than 1100 students from 58 countries.
Alongside his pedagogical work, Jans maintains an active career as a flutist and conductor. He has performed with orchestras such as the RTL Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre d’Auvergne, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, National Polish Radio Orchestra, Switzerland Chamber Orchestra, and the Latvian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, where he has been a regular guest conductor since 1997.
He has collaborated with many distinguished artists, and numerous composers have written works specifically for him. His discography includes more than 50 CDs, acclaimed internationally and awarded distinctions such as the Grand Prix du Disque.
